आपने इन दिनों गूगल बॉय की कहानी खूब पढ़ी और देखी होगी. सारे चेनल उसे दिखा रहे हैं. लेकिन राजस्थान के नागौर जिले के मेड़ता क्षेत्र के गाँव लाम्पोलाई में रहने वाले चौथी पास किसान तुलछाराम जाखड़ का गणित ज्ञान देखकर हेरान होने के सिवा कोई चारा नहीं रहता है. आप कहिये कि 865 का दस तक पहाड़ा बोलना (मल्टीप्लाई करना) है, वे बोल देंगे. ऐसे कोई भी संख्या जो एक लाख तक है, आप बोलेंगे और तुलछाराम जी उसकी दस तक की गिनती फ्लो में बोल देंगे. आप लाखों की संख्या बोलते रहिये, वे जोड़ देंगे. आप किसी भी लंबी संख्या का वर्गमूल(स्क्वायर रूट) पूछिए, वे बता देंगे. बस आप आँखें फाड़ फाड़ कर उनकी तरफ देखते रहिये. तुलछारामजी गणित को काव्य शैली में समझाते हैं तो फिर अपना दिमाग थम जाता है. कविताओं में गणित. सचमुच भारत रूपी इस देवभूमि में ऋषियों की आत्माएं आज भी विचरण करती हैं, ऐसा लगता है.
उनके इस हुनर के बारे में अखबार में पढ़ा था, उनसे मुलाक़ात भी होती रहती है, रिश्तेदारी भी है, पर मैं उनसे तसल्ली से कभी रूबरू नहीं हो पाया था. शायद यह सब भी देवीय संयोग से होता है. आज उनके गाँव लाम्पोलाई में शाम को एक हथाई में बैठा था तो उनके गणित के ज्ञान की एक एक परत ऐसी खुलने लगी कि मुझे ब्रह्मगुप्त और आर्यभट्ट के फलसफे और प्रमेय याद आने लगे. देवीय चमत्कार समझ में आने लगे. भगवान ने आदमी के दिमाग में क्या क्या भर रखा है, जो आजतक वैज्ञानिकों की समझ से बाहर है. आज वार्तालाप बीच में ही छोड़ना पड़ा. समय का अभाव था. उन्हें फिर आने का वादा कर आ गया.
मैंने चलते चलते जाखड़ साहब से पूछा कि आप चौथी से आगे क्यों नहीं पढ़े तो एक मार्मिक कहानी बता गये. बोले कि मेरे दादा को उनके गुरु ने बताया कि इस बच्चे के सिर पर अगर हल्की चोट भी लग गई तो यह खत्म हो जायेगा. दादा को पता था कि उन दिनों स्कूल में बच्चों की पिटाई आम बात थी. बस स्कूल छुडवा दी. भाई बहनों में वे इकलौते ही ज़िंदा बचे थे सो रिस्क लेना कोई नहीं चाहता था. दादा एक तरह से पोते की रखवाली में ही दिन बिताते थे. लेकिन दिमाग की कसरत घर पर ही चालू रही. दिमाग आज भी उसी गति से गणनाएं कर रहा है. अगर स्कूल में पढ़ाई चालू रहती तो पता नहीं भारत को कैसा वैज्ञानिक मिलता. भारत का सौभाग्य कहाँ !
कई बार स्थानीय अखबारों ने उनकी कहानी छापी है पर अभी तक वे देश दुनिया की ख़बरों में नहीं आये हैं. शायद कोई इस महानता की गहराई का अंदाज नहीं लगा पाया हो और सभी ने इसे जादू या ट्रिक टाइप स्किल समझकर बात को यहीं छोड़ दिया हो. वैसे भी इस प्रकार के गंभीर विषयों में रुचि कम ही लोगों को ही होती है.
जखाद साहब बोलते मारवाड़ी में है, पर संख्याएँ उनके लिए खेल हो गई हैं. जिस प्रकार मेरे सामने गुणा और जोड़ कर रहे थे, मेरी तो आगे सवाल करने की हिम्मत ही नहीं पड़ी. हाँ, यह जरूर पूछा कि इस ज्ञान को आगे की पीढ़ी में सरकाया है या महफिलों में ही बिखेर रहे हो तो हंस कर बोले कि उनके पोते पोती और दोहिती ने ट्रेनिंग ले ली है और विरासत को कुछ कुछ संभालने लायक बन रहे हैं. लेकिन उनके बच्चे यह विधा नहीं पकड़ पाए और गाँव में ही रम लिए.
आपको तसल्ली करनी हो तो लाम्पोलाई गाँव (राजस्थान के एकदम बीच में ) जाकर 65 वर्ष के तुलछाराम जी से जरूर मिलिएगा. इस क्षेत्र में लोग उनको कंप्यूटर के नाम से जानते हैं !
